Jumbo Jellyfish

oil on handmade wood panel

The Lion's Mane Jellyfish gets its name from the hair-like mane of tentacles it has, up to 1200 tentacles in 8 clusters reaching over 100 feet long. (No, I did not paint all 1200). They are large and float in the open ocean, using their sting to stun prey.
